WOULD BE U.S JIHADISTS – THE BROOKLYN CREW

3NYSUSThree New York City residents — two with Uzbekistan citizenship, and one a citizen of Kazakhstan — plotted to travel to Syria to join ISIS militants and ‘wage jihad,’ the Justice Department announced on Wednesday 02/25/2015.

The men were identified as Akhror Saidakhmetov (L), 19, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Kazakhstan; Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev (M), 24, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Uzbekistan and Abror Habibov (R), 30, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Uzbekistan.  

Akhror Saidakhmetov and Abdurasul Juraboev appeared in federal court in Brooklyn late Wednesday. Both were held without bail on charges of attempt and conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist organization. During the arraignment a federal prosecutor said both suspects confessed post-arrest that they wanted to travel to Syria to wage violent jihad.

Akhror Saidakhmetov has also been charged with travel document fraud after telling authorities he intended to travel for entertainment purposes, according to the indictment.

Abror Habibov appeared in federal court in Florida earlier Wednesday and was also held without bail.

In 06/2015, a Brooklyn court charged Uzbek national and Brooklyn resident Akmal Zakirov,  with attempting to provide material support to ISIS. Akmal Zakirov is alleged to have been part of a team committed to financing terrorist efforts.  Zakirov faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison if found guilty.

On 08/25/2014, a 19-year-old American Somali woman from St. Paul snuck away from her parents saying she was going to a bridal shower. Instead, she flew to Turkey and joined I.S,I.S in Syria. 

On 09/15/2014 According to Abdirizak Bihi, the head of thw Somali community in  Minneapolis-St. Paul area, on 09/15/2014, at least three Somali families in the have female relatives who have gone missing in the past six weeks and may have tried to join I.S.I.S in Syria.

KASIMOV* Dilkhayot Kasimov, 26,  was added, on 04/07/2015,  to the superseding indictment in which three previously arrested men Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, Akhror Saidakhmetov, and Abror Habibov were charged with two counts of providing support to a foreign terrorist organization. Those three have pleaded not guilty. It is unclear if Dilkhayot Kasimov Kasimov has been arrested.

A sixth defendant Azizjon Rakhmatov was charged in New York on 05/11/2016 .
