THREE CONVICTED IN U.K FOR THE 2006 AIRLINER PLOT

Three men where convicted, on Monday 09/07/2009, for the2006 Atlantic Airliners Plot case of plotting to kill thousands of people by blowing up planes from London to North America with home-made liquid bombs. The three are:.

 

* Tanvir Hussain, born on 02/21/1981, of Leyton, East London, without a fixed address and a UK citizen. Tanvir Hussain worked for a mobile phone company. He is possibly relative of the three brothers: Mehran, Umair and Nabeel Hussain.
He recorded a farewell footage in which Tanvir Hussain declared he wished he could “come back and do this again, and just do it again and again until people come to their senses and realise, you know, don’t mess with the Muslims”. On 09/08/2008 Tanvir Hussain was found guilty of conspiracy to murder. Tanvir Hussain was sentenced, on Monday 09/14/2009, to 36 years imprisonment.

On Friday 02/18/2011 Kamel Bourgass and Tanvir Hussain, after they claimed their human rights were violated when they were put in segregation units for extended periods.

Kamel Bourgass and Tanvir Hussain claimed their human rights were violated when they were put in segregation units for extended periods. On Friday 02/18/2011, Mr Justice Irwin, sitting in London, rejected their claims that they had been treated unlawfully and unfairly and upheld the segregation.

* Ahmed Abdullah Ali, born on 10/10/1980, of Walthamstow and a UK citizen, is the husband of Cossar Ali. He is considered to be a prime suspect and possibly the ringleader of the Atlantic Airliners Plot in UK. Ahmed Abdullah Ali planned to use a baby’s bottle to smuggle liquid explosive onto a plane. He recorded a farewell footage in which Ahmed Abdullah Ali said “Sheikh Osama [Bin Laden] has warned you many times to leave our lands or you will be destroyed, and now the time has come for you to be destroyed”. On 09/08/2008 Ahmed Abdullah Ali was found guilty of conspiracy to murder. Ahmed Abdullah Ali was sentenced, on Monday 09/14/2009, to 40 years imprisonment.

* Assad Ali Sarwar, born on 05/24/1980, from High Wycombe and a U.K citizen. Assad Ali Sarwar is believed to have attended the Muslim Education Centre in Totteridge Drive, London.

Assad Ali Sarwar had key contacts among Islamists in Pakistan. According to the indictment he wanted to destroy the main exchange for Britain’s Internet service providers and target an airport control tower. He recorded farewell footage in which Assad Ali Sarwar attempted to justify the attacks. On 09/08/2008 Assad Ali Sarwar was found guilty of conspiracy to murder. Assad Ali Sarwar was sentenced, on Monday 09/14/2009, to 36 years imprisonment.

A fourth man, Umar Islam, was convicted for lesser charges.

* Umar Islam, born on 04/23/1978, of Stratford, East London is from West Indian origin and a UK citizen.  Umar Islam converted to Islam in 2004 and changed his name from Brian Oliver Young. Umar Islam is married with a child and worked as a bus ticket inspector.

He recorded a farewell footage in which Tanvir Hussain declared he wished he could “come back and do this again, and just do it again and again until people come to their senses and realise, you know, don’t mess with the Muslims”. On Monday 09/07/2009, Umar Islam, was convicted of conspiracy to murder, but the jury failed to reach a verdict on whether he was involved in a plot to blow up aircraft.

All the mentioned above were charged, on 08/22/2006, with conspiracy to murder and with preparing acts of terrorism under section five of the Terrorism Act 2006. Umar Islam was sentenced, on Monday 09/14/2009, to 20 years imprisonment. .
All other Atlantic Plot Suspects were found not guilty.
