STEPHNE FARRELL RESCUED IN AFGHANISTAN

Two journalists Sultan Munadi, who was working as a translator, and Stephne  Farrell (pic), 46, from the New York Times, were kidnapped and taking hostages by the Taliban when they were travelling to the scene of a NATO-ISAF air strike near Kunduz, on 09/05/2009 (see – Kunduz 09.04.09). They have been for going to the area.

Sultan Munadi and Stephne  Farrell spent the next days being moved between safe houses by the Taliban. Stephne  Farrel said they were treated well .

British forces launched a rescue operation on 09/09/2009 night in which a British paratrooper was killed as well as the translator Sultan Munadi and two Afghan civilians where killed too after the Taliban had turned up there on Tuesday 09/08/2009 night with their two captives, demanding shelter.
