OPERATION ‘DECISIVE STORM’
On early Thursday 03/26/2016 Saudi Arabia waged “Operation Decisive Storm” against the Shia Houthi coup, backed by Iran , in Yemen and in support of legitimate President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi ( see – YEMEN-WAR ).
A Saudi air campaign was launched overnight which has already resulted in the killing of several Houthi leaders. Yemen air space is currently under full control of the Saudi Royal Air Force.
As the operation continues, a coalition of all Gulf Emirates, barring Oman, is taking part in the campaign, including Sudan,Egypt, Morocco, Jordan and Pakistan. A coalition of deep disappointment and frustration from USA regional policy. Egypt has sent four naval vessels to Yemen’s strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait amid a Saudi-led offensive against Yemen’s Shiite Houthi group, an Egyptian official said Thursday 03/26/2015. .
Recently USA is coordinating its strategy against I.S.I.S more with Shiite Iran than with Arab Sunni countries. Furthermore, almost simultaneously America conducted Air strikes in Tikrit , against I.S.I.S. to help a coalition of Shia Militias and Iraqi forces, commanded by Iranian Revolutionary Guard officers, retake Tikrit, a senior U.S. defense official confirmed to Fox News on Wednesday 25/03/2015. .The prospect of USA airstrikes in Tikrit raises highly sensitive questions about participating in an Iraqi campaign that has been spearheaded by Iranian-backed Iraqi Shiite militias,. Iran has provided artillery and other weaponry for the Tikrit battle. Although U.S. has said it is not coordinating any military actions with the Iranians The Sunni countries see it as an American intervention on the side of Iran and the Shia forces against the Sunni faith. ,
Saudi Arabia has deployed 100 fighter jets, 150,000 soldiers and other navy units, Al Arabiya News Channel reported.
Meanwhile, Yemen shut its major seaports in Aden on Thursday while Saudi Arabia halted flights to seven airports south of the Kingdom, Reuters news agency reported.
“President Obama has authorized the provision of logistical and intelligence support to GCC-led military operations,” National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said in a statement, on 03/26/2015referring to the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Yemeni Foreign Minister Riad Yassine told Al Arabiya News Channel that the operations would continue until the Houthis agreed to join peace talks and backtrack on all measures taken since their occupation of the capital Sanaa last September (2014).
Iran and USA are engaged in tense negotiation over Iran’s military nuclear program and USA, in order to facilitate the negotiation, faces difficulties to draw a line to Iran’s expansion and ambitions.
US Secretary of State John Kerry has commended the work of a Saudi-led coalition taking military action in Yemen, a senior US official said. On 03/20/2015 has evacuated its remaining personnel, including about 100 special operations forces, from Yemen because of the deteriorating security situation there, U.S. officials have confirmed.
It is most likely that Saudi ground operations are still ahead.
