04/2015 – ISIS LOSSES & GAINS
Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, says the front lines of the territory held by the Islamic State group have been pushed further south and west in Iraq. But the militants still control a swath of land stretching from west and south of Sinjar down through Mosul and across Bayji.
A new map released by the Pentagon Monday shows that U.S. and coalition forces regained territory near Tikrit, Sinjar Mountain and Mosul Dam.
Warren says while militants were driven out of Kobani, in Syria, they have maintained influence across the country and gained ground around Homs and Damascus.
* But just the next day after the premature reports, on 04/15/2015, a new wave of Iraqis fled three villages in Ramadi, capital of the Iraqi, Sunni Western province of Anbar, after they were captured by ISIS. Residents told the Associated Press that ISIS launched an offensive at dawn east of the city, seizing the villages Sjariyah, Albu-Ghanim and Soufiya, which had been under government control.and that fighting is now taking place on the eastern edges of Ramadi about two kilometers away from local government buildings.
