MOROCCO’S MEKNES SUICIDE ATTACK
On 08/13/2007, at about 11:30 local time, a suicide bombing attack targeted a bus with tourists from Franc and Italy, in the town of Meknes, 130 km East of Morocco’s capital Rabat, in the popular central square.
Nobody was hurt except the suicide attacker. He was later identified as Hicham Dokkali (30), an engineer who worked in the tax office in Meknes. Hicham Dokkali was carrying a gas cylinder used for the attack.
Police is searching for questioning two other men seen with Hicham Dokkali shortly before the attack.
The use of gas cylinder, which is inefficient as an explosive but easy to obtain, and the fact that no organization took responsibility on the attack, suggest that the attack was a local initiative and an isolated attempt.
