TURKEY DISMANTLED ISIS RECRUITING NETWORK

Turkey mapTurkish police have carried out raids in Istanbul and three other cities, detaining at least 21 people suspected of being members of the Islamic State (ISIS), state-run news agency has said on Friday 07/10/2015..

The Anadolu ( Anatolia) Agency said that three of the suspects detained were foreign nationals who were planning to cross into Syria to join ISIS. Other suspects were believed to have been working to recruit fighters for the group, the agency said ( see also – ISIS Next Stage 06.15 ).

The raid comes just days after US officials including Retired General John Allen held talks in Ankara on joint efforts to fight ISIS.  Washington has been pressing Turkey to do more in the fight against the group. Police seized two rifles, large amounts of ammunition, documents and military uniforms during the raids.

** The activity of ISIS in Turkey, where over 25,000 thousand volunteers from all over the world are passing through for over 4 years in increasing numbers, is way more sophisticated, much more wider and very  grounded and well-based in Turkey, The arrests are, most likely, the minimum Turkey have to do in order to, somehow, please the USA. Basically Turkey  is not a foe to the Islamic State but a bitter adversary to any Kurdish ambitions.
