– 2 GITMO INMATES SENT HOME
- Abdul Shalabi has been transferred back to Saudi Arabia. Abdul Shalab was captured by Pakistani forces in 2001 and sent to the USA Guantanamo detention camp where he went on a long hunger strike against his confinement.
Abdul Shalab’s release means 114 inmates remain at Guantanamo, including 52 who have been approved for transfer.
Abdul Rahman Shalab has never been charged with any crime, is due to undergo a rehabilitation program for militants in Saudi Arabia.
Younis Abdurrahman Chekkouri fled, but he was caught by Pakistani forces, according to U.S. officials. Then he escaped again, during a prisoner riot, but was recaptured. On o1/01/2002 He was handed over to U.S. forces at Kandahar. Five months later, on May 1, he was moved to Guantanamo Bay, where he was imprisoned until Wednesday 09/15/2015 . He was never charged with any crime.
Younis Abdurrahman Chekkouri had been transferred back to his home country—five years after he was approved for release.
