12 TROOPS KILLED IN TUNISIA
– 12 people were killed and 17 were wounded, on Tuesday 11/24/2915, as a bomb tore through a bus carrying Presidential Guards in Tunisia’s capital in an explosion described by the president’s office as a “suicide attack,”
Tunisian President Beji Said Essebsi declared a 30-day state of emergency, giving more powers to security forces, in addition to a curfew that would last until 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
Security sources said the guards were boarding the bus to be taken to the Presidential Palace on the outskirts of the city when the explosion hit. One presidential source said it was likely that a bomber had detonated his explosive belt inside.
The Tunisian Interior Ministry said in a statement, on Friday 11/27/2015, they identified the suicide bomber as local street vendor 27-year-old Houssam ben Hedi ben Miled Abdelli (pic-L) . All together 30 suspects have been detained after the attack.
Tunisia has had free elections and is operating under a new constitution and a broad political consensus that has allowed secular and Islamist parties to overcome a crisis that threatens to overturn their young democracy. Tunisia has also the largest contingent of Islamist Jihadi fighters in Syria estimated currently over 4,000 Young Tunisian volunteers
