ISIS WANTS TO BRING ‘APOCALYPSE’ TO CHRISTIANS
–
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, claimed, on Friday 12/25/2015. Christianity faces ‘elimination’ in its birthplace at the hands of ISIS in a considerably less optimistic Christmas address than the Queen’s. He branded Islamic extremists as the ‘Herod of today’, a reference to the despot King of Judea at the time of Jesus’s birth in his speech at Canterbury Cathedral.
He warned that I.S.I.S could wipe out the Christian faith in the place it was born two millennia ago, as they ignite ‘a trail of fear, violence, hatred and determined oppression’ in the region.
The Archbishop warned of the ‘end days’, and talk of the apocalypse as he took a dramatic tone on the threat ISIS poses to the world because of their intolerant attitudes. ‘They hate difference, whether it is Muslims who think differently, Yazidis or Christians, and because of them the Christians face elimination in the very region in which Christian faith began.
Christian cleansing from the Middle East is a long process initially motivated by economic opportunities for Christians in the Western Democratic hemisphere. After the American invasion to Iraq in 03/2003 Christians began to be targets for Islamist all over the Middle East who referred to the Christians communities in the region as collaborators – the ‘Fifth Column’ of the crusaders as they described the Western powers. In Recent years Christians cleansing in the region was dramatically accelerated and and Christianity in the Middle East and other Muslim/Christian mixed areas in the world are on the verge of distinction, especially in the Middle East .
So fare Christian Cleansing in the Middle East initiated and committed by Islamic Jihadi and militant organisations was a sort of “tabu” . The Pop, as an example, spoke about the “suffering”, the “hardship”, the “freedom of worshiping”or asked, in today Christmas mass “Jesus to grant consolation to those persecuted for their faith” as all of those happened by chance, by god or by political crisis but without mentioning “Radical Islam”, “jihadi organizations” or religious persecutions by Muslims. It is most likely that the Pop payed more attention to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to bring together Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President, with Shimon Peres, the former Israeli Prime minister, to a common prey for peace, than to put political pressure on Christian countries and communities over the world to save, at least the basic life, of the Christian communities in the Middle East.
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby is, probably, the first influential Christian religious leader who named the source of the problem – Islamic extremists as the ‘Herod of today’ and ISIS as the promo to Christian ‘Apocalypse ‘. No doubt the Archbishop ignited a new controversy in Europe and in the Churches about the identity of Europe.
