– ATTACKS ON TOURIST LOCATIONS IN EGYPT

Hurghada** Three  foreign tourists  at the Bella Vista hotel have been injured in an attack at a hotel in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Hurghada on Friday 01/08/2016 evening. The attackers. armed with knifes t, arrived by sea to carry out the assault, Reuters reported, quoting Egyptian security sources. One of the injured was from Sweden and the other two from Austria, the sources said.

Egyptian state TV says local security forces repelled the attack and one assailant has been killed. According to the Interior Ministry one of the attackers was a student from the Cairo suburb of Giza.

** A day earlier two masked gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on tourists,as they boarded a bus in Cairo, on Thursday 01/07/2015, but there were no casualties, security sources said.

The attack took place at a hotel in the Egyptian capital on a road leading to the pyramids. One gunman was arrested at the scene and security forces surrounded the other attacker in another part of Cairo, said the sources.  Many of the tourists in that specific hotel were Israeli Arabsbut the attack aimed to the Tourist industry and not specifically to Israelis or any other group.  .

Tourism is a pillar of the Egyptian economy and therefore a favored target for Islamic terror.

** Also on Thursday he Egyptian branch of the Islamic State, known as Ansar Bait al-Maqdis, said it had bombed a pipeline that carries gas to Jordan and to a major industrial zone in north Sinai, close to Al-Midan village in the El-Arish district. The pipeline was the subject of terror attacks many times in the past and was bombed times and again
