SUICIDE BOMBER TARGETED A SENIOR PAKISTANI
In Peshawar, in North West Pakistan, a suicide bomber blew himself , on 12/21/2007 morning, in a crowded Mosque celebrating the Muslim Aid al-Adha feast, marking the end of the Hadj’ to Mecca.
More then 50 people were killed in the explosion and many more wounded near the house of the former interior minister of Pakistan – Aftab Sherpao, but he and his sons were unhurt.
According to the police the attacker was in the second row behind outgoing interior minister Aftab Sherpao in what seems to be an assassination attempt.
Aftab Sherpao is considered an ally of President Pervez Musharraf. He is running as a candidate for parliament in general elections next month. It is the second attempt on Aftab Sherpao’s life – the first attempt was in 04/2007.
