16 KILLED IN IVORY COAST’ TERROR ATTACK

Unidentified gunmen have killed, on Sunday 03/13/2016, about 16 people, including 4 Westerner tourists, at a beach resort in southern Ivory Coast, a model of stability in West Africa, officials say. The assailants fired on beach-goers in the town of Grand Bassam, about 40km (25 miles) east of the country’s commercial capital Abidjan, near the L’Etoile du Sud hotel.
The resort is popular with local people and foreigners. Security forces have been sent to the scene.
The conflict pitted the mainly Muslim north against the largely Christian south. Since then, peace deals have alternated with renewed violence.
A total of 21 people died in the attack, officials said on Monday 03/14/2016. At least four were foreigners, three were from the security forces and three were attackers.
Luxury hotels with Westerners were recently the prime target for Islamic terror groups iin large parts of Africa .
MAGHREB al-Qaeda – ( AQIM ) has claimed the attack. The gunmen have been “neutralised”, officials said. Security officials suggested the attackers came from the sea, like in Hurghada, Egypt, on 01/08/2016 .
