34 KILLED IN ANKARA’ CAR BOMB BLAST
About 34 deaths and 125 injuries have been reported in central Ankara after a car bomb exploded, on Sunday 13/03/2015 evening, in Kizilay neighbourhood near transport hub in Ankara, the Turkish capital.
It is the third major explosion to have happened in Ankara in the last five months. The explosion came just a months after a suicide car bombing, on 02/16/2016, in the capital targeted buses carrying military personnel, killing 29 people.
A Kurdish armed group which is an offshoot of the outlawed group, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, claimed responsibility for that attack.
It also occurred two days after the US embassy issued a security warning about a potential plot to attack Turkish government buildings and housing in one Ankara neighbourhood and asked its citizens to avoid those areas.
* According to latest reports the car bomb was driven by a Kurdish female suicide bomber .
