50 KILLED IN U.S’ ORLANDO CLUB BY ISLAMIST OMAR MATEEN

mateena A Muslim gunman killed 50 people and injured 53 in a massacre at a gay nightclub in the tourist hub of Pulse, Orlando, Florida, early on Sunday 06/12/2016, the city’s mayor and police said, in an attack USA authorities are described as a “terrorism incident.”

The shooter was identified as Omar Siddique Mateen (pic), A USA citizen from the Florida town of Port St Lucie & from Afghan descent He is a divorce and a father of 3 years old boy. A senior FBI official saidMateen might have had leanings towards I.S.I.S militants. But officials cautioned that the Islamist tie required further investigation. Omar Siddique Mateen was not on a terrorism watch list, although he was being investigated in the past for an unrelated criminal act.

According to Fox News, Mateen was a 29-year-old, U.S.-born citizen with parents from Afghanistan. Officials say Mateen was “on the radar” for some time but not the target of any specific investigation. The shooter also held a Florida security officer license and a state firearms license, says TMZ.

Police Chief John Mina also said the shooter had some sort of “suspicious device.” He said the suspect exchanged gunfire with an officer working at the club around 2am, then went back inside and took hostages.

At around 5am, authorities sent in a SWAT team to rescue the hostages, and the suspect then died in a gunfight with those officers.

FBI spokesman Danny Banks initially said during a news conference that the mass shooting was being investigated as an act of terrorism. He said authorities were looking into whether this was an act of domestic or international terror, and if the shooter was a lone wolf. The local sheriff later announced that the shooting could be treated as a domestic terrorism incident.

** Ron Hopper, the assistant FBI special agent in charge, said that they first became aware of Omar Mateen in 2013 when he made inflammatory comments to co-workers about possible terrorist ties. Hopper added that Mateen came to the attention of the FBI again in 2014 due to possible ties with American suicide bomber Moner Abu Salha. Hopper said that they determined that the contact was “minimal and did not constitute a substantive relationship or a threat at that time.”

** Omar Mateen worked for a private security company. His employers, G4S, said he had worked for them for nine years and carried a gun as part of his job. In a statement, the company said he had undergone screening twice, in 2007 and 2013, and the checks had not revealed anything of concern.

If so it suggest that although it is not yet clear if he was directly instructed by I.S.I.S it is clear he was inspired by Jihadi Ideology and by Islamic total negation toward homosexuality Omar Mateen was heard shouting “Allah Akbar (God is great)” while engaging officers during the attack.

** A Twitter account associated with Islamic State, on Sunday 06/12/2016,posted a photo purported to be Omar Mateen,”The man who carried out the Florida nightclub attack which killed 50 people and injured dozens,” the caption of the photo read. There was no official Islamic State statement. Islamic State supporters posted messages of praise for the attack. It was not possible to verify whether the picture was in fact of Mateen.

** The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the shooting, The terror group’s news organization, Aamaq Agency, said later on Sunday, the attack was “carried out by an Islamic State fighter.”

** Federal officials told NBC News that Mateen went to Saudi Arabia in 2011 and 2012 — but said it was not immediately clear what he was doing there. A spokesman for Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of the Interior, though, told NBC News that Mateen visited to perform a pilgrimage to Mecca.

** Several Pulse customers have told US media that Omar Mateen was a regular visitor to the nightclub. “Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent,” Ty Smith told the Orlando Sentinel. Other witnesses said they recognised him from gay dating apps.

** According to sources familiar with the investigation on Tuesday 06/14/2016 Omar Mateen’s second wife since 2013, Noor Zahi Salman Mateen (pic-L), 30, the mother of his 3 years old son, of Palestinian heritage, told the FBI she was with him when he bought ammunition and a holster. She told the FBI that she drove him to the gay nightclub on different occasions, Pulse, because he wanted to scope it out. she knew of her husband’s plans and did not report him. Noor Mateen claimed she tried to talk him out of the attack .
