2 ROCKETS FROM LEBANON HIT ISRAEL

>

On 01/08/2008 before dawn two “short” 107mm Katiusha rockets fired from Lebanon hit the Northern town of Shlomi. The ammunition was old and one of the rockets, which hit directly a living room in Shlomi, did not explode and the other exploded few km outside Shlomi. The range of the “short” Katiusha is about 7.5 km.

It is not clear who fired the rockets but it is most likely that it was one of many Palestinian opposition groups in Lebanon.

Later in the day a roadside bomb exploded near an UNIFIL patrol in Rumeyle, in the Southern outskirt of Sidon, wounding two Irish soldiers. It seems to be that the attacks are timed with the visit of USA President George Bush in the Middle East which begins on 01/09/2008 in Israel.

Fatah al-Islam took, through the web, responsibility on the attacks.
