2 BELGIAN POLICE WOMEN STABBED IN CHARLEROI
Two police officers, on Saturday 08/06/2016 at about 16:00 local time, have been injured by a machete-wielding assailant in the Belgian city of Charleroi outside the local police headquarters.. The attacker was shot and wounded, Charleroi police said on Twitter. The assailant is said to have shouted “Allahu Akbar” (“God is great” in Arabic) during the assault outside the city’s main police station. The assailant was shot by another police officer and died soon after in hospital . One of the policewoman was seriously wounded in her face .
The area around the police station has been sealed off. The attacker was a 33-year-old Algerian, identified as K.B, who was known to authorities and lived in Belgium since 2012. .
I.S.I.S, on Sunday 08/07/2016, claimed, through the web, responsibility on the attack but did not named the perpetrator . In a statement released by theIslamic State’ official media outlet, Amaq news Agency, said: “The executor of the attack in Charleroi, Belgium, was a soldier of the Islamic state and carried out the operation in response to calls to target citizens of countries belonging to the crusader coalition.”
