ISIS’ AFPAK LEADER, HAFIZ SAEED KHAN, KILLED
Hafiz Saeed Khan, born 1972 in the FATA town of Mamozai in Pakistan, was an Islamic militant who served as the Islamic State (I.S.I.S) Emir (Commissioner ) of its ‘Khorasan province’, which is active in Afghanistan and Pakistan, from 01/2015 until his death in late July 2016. Prior to 2015, Hafiz Saeed Khan was a senior commander in the Tehrik-e-Taleban Pakistan and initially a member of the Afghan Taliban. He replaced in command Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, who was himself killed in mid 05/20/2016 by an American drone too .
On 09/29/2015, the USA Department of the Treasury sanctioned Hafiz Saeed Khan,alongside 15 other Islamic State leaders. According to the Department of the Treasury,
Afghan Ambassador to Islamabad Dr Omar Zakhilwal, on Friday 08/12/2016, confirmed the regional chief of Islamic State militant group Hafiz Saeed Khan has been killed in a joint US-Afghan operation. He was killed in by a drone on 07/26/2016 with some of his fighters – 3 days after he launched a major assault on Kabul’s Shiite minority. .
This is the second time that Hafiz Saeed Khan is said to have died. In 2015, Afghan intelligence agents claimed he had been killed, but their claim was never substantiated.
