TOURISTS KILLED IN YEMEN ATTACK
Two female Belgian tourists and their driver have been killed, on 01/18/2008, after gunmen opened fire on their car in Wadi Dawan, 350 km east of Sanaa. Four other Belgians were hurt in the attack.
The Yemen authorities believe the gunmen are affiliated to Al Qaeda and launched a manhunt to reach the perpetrators.
On 07/02/2007 six Spanish tourists were killed in the same region by a suicide attack.(See – Marib Suicide Attack )
** A court in the capital Sanaa sentenced, on Monday 07/13/2009, 6 Yemeni citizens to death and 10 other defendants to jail terms ranging from eight to 15 years for committing the attack as well as other terror attacks (See – Sanaa 07.13.09)
