MELBOURNE SUSPECTS
On 03/31/2006, after 4 months surveillance, the Melbourne police arrested three suspects: Bassam Raad, Majed Raad and Shoue Hammoud for connection with terror elements overseas.
The three suspects drew the police attention when, in 11/2005, they attacked journalists and photographers that covered the arrest of Abdul Nasser Benbrika .
Bassam Raad, Majed Raad and Shoue Hammoud were charged, on 04/03/2006, with being members of a terrorist organization and contributing funds to a terrorist organization.
* Bassam Raad of Brunswick, Melbourne, from Lebanese origin, was born in 1982. Bassam Raad is considered to be the ringleader, worked as an electrician and was a work colleague of Shoue Hammoud. He is a relative of Ahmed Raad from Melbourne Cell. Bassam Raadconsistentlydenied all the charges against him.

* Majed Raad of Coburg, Melbourne, from Lebanese origin, was born in 1985. Majed Raad is a relative of Ahmed Raad from Melbourne Cell. According to police sources Majed Raaddid not believe that Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden committed The 9/11 and was convinced that the attack was a Zionist plot in order to turn the Christian World against the Muslims.

* Shoue Hammoud of Coburg, Melbourne, born in 1985, is married and has a child. He used to play Australian football for a club in Coburg. Shoue Hammoud worked as an electrician and was a work colleague of Bassam Raad. His house and telephones were bugged already from 10/2004 as a part of the surveillance operation after the AUSTRALIAN Terror Network by the AUSTRALIAN security service (ASIO).
The three defendants were added to the Melbourne Cell case trial. On Monday 09/15/2008 thethre defendants Bassam Raad, Majed Raad and Shoue Hammoud were acquitted from all charges.
