The 21st Century Phenomenon

* Asif Ramzi, a leader of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in Karachi, Pakistan, was also a spokesperson for the Muslim United Army, one of many ephemeral groups which operated in Karachi.  Asif Ramzi was a member in the 7 men team that hijacked Daniel Pearl in Karachi, on 01/23/2002. Intelligence sources said that Asif Ramzi built the bomb used in the attack on the USA consulate in Karachi, on 06/14/2002.

On 12/19/2002 Asif Ramzi was found dead inside a chemical storage warehouse that exploded in the Pakistan city of Karachi. According to the Pakistani police the warehouse was a bomb-making factory. Intelligence officials suggested that Asif Ramzi may have been silenced — either by authorities or fellow extremists.

A powerful explosion had ripped through the warehouse, killing four others along with Asif Ramzi.

* Sajid Jabbar, alias Buddha, was a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami (see – Qazi Hussain Ahmad) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. He served as a go between Daniel Pearl and Sheik Mubarak Ali Gilani. Sajid Jabbar, eventually, lured Daniel Pearl to the meeting point where he was kidnapped rather then meeting the Sheik.

Sajid Jabbar was arrested by the Pakistani police, on 02/17/2004, with another Lashkar-e-Jhangvi operative Mohammad Athar, in Karachi. Both were accused of carrying out a series of terror strikes in Karachi, including one on the Macedonian consulate in Karachi.
