The 21st Century Phenomenon

* Samir ibn Zafar Khan, a USA citizen from Charlotte, North Carolina, was born in 1986 in Riyadh the capital of Saudi Arabia, to a family from Pakistani descent.  In 1993 his family moved to New York City and settled into the Queens neighborhood of Maspeth.

Samir Khan mirrored his teenage peers, from their slang to their baggy pants, until 08/2001 when, at age 15, he attended a week long summer camp at a Mosque in Queens, which was sponsored by a fundamentalist but nonviolent group now known as the Islamic Organization of North America (IONA). In the seminar Samir Khan also befriended members of the Islamic Thinkers Society, a tiny group that promotes radical, nonviolent Islam by leafleting in Times Square and Jackson Heights, Queens. The group is affiliated to Omar Bakri Muhammad. Samir Khan began to post his own webpage at that time, 09/2001.

After The 9/11 Samir Khan’s blog has been fending off citizen watchdogs who were working to knock sites likes his off the Internet. Twice in September 2001 his blog went dark when his service provider shut him down, citing complaints about the nature of his postings. Therefore Samir Khan moved his blog to a site called, whose American operators recently moved from Texas to Amman, Jordan. Their larger forum, Islamic Network, is the host of discussions among English-speaking Muslims. One of their former employees, Daniel Maldonado, was convicted, in 2007, in federal court of associating with terrorists at their training camps in Somalia. Samir Khan run several Jihadi websites supporting Al Qaeda that were all shut down under the net name Inshallashaheed (Martyr with God’s Will) or Mujahid fe Sabeelillah(Holly Warrior in the Service of God) when, in 10/2007, he was identified by a New York Times reporter Michael Moss as Samir Khan, probably disrupting an FBI investigation into the case.

Samir Khan’s websites, FBU believes, encouraged young American Muslims to join the Global Jihad and were influential in recruiting the Minneapolis Network. Samir Khan was never charged of any terror related charges in USA.

A Senior law enforcement official said, on Monday 07/19/2010, he believes Samir Khan, who reportedly moved to Yemen to study Arabic, is the editor and the writer of the new Jihadi  on line INSPIRE MAGAZINE with the full support of Anwar al-Awlaki.

A federal grand jury, on Wednesday 08/18/2010, has started reviewing evidence against Samir  Khan, who ran a militant Islamic website out of his parents’ basement, and is now suspected of being behind the Al Qaeda magazine Inspire Jihad (see –AL-MALAHIM -INSPIRE-MAGAZINE ) .

* On Monday 10/11/2010 Samir  Khan, probably interviewing himself, in a new edition of Al Qaeda’s magazine on line Inspire Jihad said he is “proud to be a traitor to America.” and that “We (Islamic Jihadists) (Islamic Jihadists) pledge to wage jihad for the rest of our lives until either we implant Islam all over the world or meet our Lord as bearers of Islam” (see – INSPIRE II).

** Samir Kahn was killed in the same CIA drone strike that eliminated Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen, on Friday 09/30/2011, U.S. officials said.

*** About half a year after being killed by an USA drone in Yemen yet another article of Samir Khan was published and distributed with a new edition of Inspire Magazine, on Tuesday 05/15/2012. Ironically the subject of the article was how to dodge American UAVs.
