Three Israeli Arabs from Lod, the mixed Jewish-Arab town on the middle Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem, were arrested by the Israeli Security Service – Shin.Bet and Israel Police after they allegedly planned to kidnap and kill an Israeli soldier and use him as a bargaining chip for the release of Palestinian security prisoners, the Shin.Bet announced Monday 06/02/2008.

The three, Amir Nafar, 20, an Islamic Studies student at the University of Jordan, Ayman Kadura, 26, and Yassin Hinawi, 19, were arrested in the past two months. During their interrogation, the discovered that the idea to perpetrate the attack was formulated by the three in the largest Mosque in Lod, where they held secret meetings.

They planned to document the kidnapping on camera, and kill and bury the soldier in a secret hiding place, in 12/2007, during the Eid al-Adha holiday.  Amir Nafar invited his two accomplices Ayman Kadura and Yassin Hinawi to an urgent meeting at the Mosque. He first took away the cell phones of his associates to avoid any bugging or tracking of the meeting.  During the meeting Amir Nafar laid out his support for the Jihad idea and said that every Muslim was obligated to fulfill the commandment to wage Jihad against the infidels.

After his friends voiced their support for Jihad, Amir Nafar offered them to join him in the kidnapping and killing of a soldier. All three are members of the Islamic Movement, which is led by Sheik Raed Salah .

During the interrogation, Ayman Kadura said that he had already begun to save money for the attack.

* On Monday 06/02/2008, the three were indicted in the Petah Tikva District Court.

Amir Nafar and Ayman Kadura were indicted on charges of aiding an enemy in a time of war and conspiring to commit a crime, while Yassin Hinawi was indicted on lesser charge of concealing a crime planned to kill.

Summary ;

It is almost certain that the surveillance operation was with full cooperation of the Jordanian Security Service.
