TWO TERROR SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN MILAN

Italian police have arrested, on Tuesday 12/02/2008, two men suspected of planning a terror attack in Milan.
A statement by Milan police said the men were suspected of being part of a terror cell that was active in the Milan area and was planning attacks on civilian and military targets. It said the suspects were foreigners but did not specify their nationality.
The ANSA news agency said the suspects were Moroccan and had been planning attacks in Milan, possibly on police barracks. one of the suspects was a preacher at an Islamic cultural center called “Pace,” or “Peace,” in the nearby town of Macherio.
Police said they were charged with international terrorism, a charge introduced in Italy after The 9/11. A conviction carries up to 15 years in prison.
