.>

At least 34 people have been killed in two suspected suicide attacks in the northern Iraqi town of Tal Afar, on Thursday 07/09/2009 morning, police have said. The second bomber reportedly detonated his explosives as people gathered to help victims of the first blast. Many others of people were reportedly wounded (see also – Baghdad 03.10.09).

Tal Afar, close to the Syrian border, was the scene of one of the deadliest attacks in Iraq, killing at least 152 people in 03/27/2007.

Elsewhere, at least seven civilians were killed by two bombs hidden in piles of rubbish in a market in Baghdad’s Sadr city (see also – Sadr City 04.29.09).

The bombing in Tal Afar followed a twin car bomb attack in the city of Mosul, on Wednesday 07/08/2009, which killed at least 14 people and wounded 33 others (see also – Mosul 05.02.09).

US combat troops pulled out of the centers of all cities and major towns across Iraq on 06/30/2009 as part of a plan to withdraw all US forces by 2012 (see – Sovereignty-Day ).
